The activity was booked solid over the weekend, even after a session was added yesterday morning.

Stars on Ice rink manager Tim Herbert was pleased to see Bathurst embracing the temporary structure and the sport so eagerly.

"People really love it," he said.

"They keep coming back and asking about skating again.

"Among the 80 people out on the ice yesterday during the 2pm session were Bathurst resident Leigh Hands and his four-year-old daughter Alice.

Neither had ventured out on the ice before, but they were both eager to have a go.

"I thought I would take the opportunity while it was in Bathurst and hopefully it comes back so my next [child] can have a skate," Mr Hands said.

Alice was a little nervous to take her first steps on the ice, but had her trusty penguin aid for support.

"She was quite hesitant to start with, but she got the hang of it," Mr Hands said.

The ice rink will be established in Kings Parade until the winter festival ends on July 12.

Throughout this period, there will be several themed days when people can dress for the occasion.

"Council thought it would be a great idea to have these themed days," Mr Herbert said.

"It is encouraging people to dress up and have a bit of fun."The first themed day of skating is today, when people are encouraged to wear a daggy jumper.

Wednesday's theme is Disney on Ice, while Friday is a splash of yellow.

The final themed day will be on Saturday with beanies and scarves.

Tickets are still available to be purchased online for skating sessions throughout the week.For every ticket sold, council will donate $2 to the Daffodil Cottage extension project.
