The parish had asked for a council contribution of $2000 towards the cost of the additional signage which would be placed on Gilmour Street near the driveway entrance to the Holy Trinity Church.

The sign would be about two metres by 1.5 metres and would be primarily to promote the parish and community centre as a venue open for hire to the many varied groups including universities for exams, church groups for meetings, indoor sporting group, wedding receptions and similar events.

It would also give historical details of the Holy Trinity Church, noting some significant names in the life and the history of Bathurst were interred in the graveyard.

According to a letter to council from the Rev Tim Fogo and Dennis Tyson on behalf of the parish, effective signage would enable both a higher utilisation of the parish and community centre, benefiting the wider community, and an increased awareness of the significant history contained in the graveyard.

They also noted the Parish of Kelso has been serving the community of Bathurst since 1926.

According to city treasurer Bob Roach council has been involved with the Holy Trinity Parish and Community Centre since the construction of the facility in 2001.

He notes council made a contribution of $100,000 as a capital grant towards the cost of the building at that time and is now being asked to chip in for the sign.

Council's general manager and councillors felt the $100,000 was a generous contribution and that another $2000 for the sign could not be justified.
