The highly anticipated facility will host the Subaru BMX National Championships next year and the race is on to get it finished in time. Central West Civil general manager Simon Withers said the recent weather had been good for the excavation work.

The way the track twists and turns down to the foot of the hill is evident from the bottom of the site on the Vale Road, with the jumps still to come.

"It is basically a downhill track- they finish the race and trek back to the top," Mr Withers said.

He expects there shouldn't beamy problems with meeting the deadline provided they continue to work daily and there isn't too much rain.

"It will be finished by the deadline for sure," he confirmed.

One of the biggest supporters of the facility is councillor Greg Westman.

Cr Westman - who is also the Bathurst BMX Club secretary - knows better than anyone what a boost a world-class, Olympic standard track will give to Bathurst and he has been successful in getting other parties on board.

"All of our councillors are excited about the project and the benefits it will bring to Bathurst," he said.

As he looked over the site with mayor Gary Rush and other key figures, he was pleased with the speed of the construction process.

"The progress is outstanding," Cr Westman said.

"I'm amazed with how much progress they have made in such a short time.

"He is confident BMX Australia will want to make more use of the Bathurst Bike Park precinct after the 2016 championships.

"I'm certain this facility will be part of BMX Australia's plans for the future development of the sport," Cr Westman said.

The BMX National Championships,which will be held at the facility between February 29 and March 6, are predicted to bring up to 3000 entrants to Bathurst, along with spectators.

Construction of the track itself is expected to be completed by late 2015.
