It was the first time an event of this kind had been held in Bathurst, allowing customers to test drive a variety of New Holland tractors.
Representatives from On-Trac Ag in Bathurst and Orange were on hand at the old St Patrick’s Sporting Club to point out the features of the machinery.
Bathurst dealer and principal Peter Russell said the feedback from customers was fantastic, thanks in large part to the unique opportunity the day presented.
“It is exceptional for a couple of reasons,” he said. “One, farmers get an opportunity to see products not usually in Bathurst, and they get to take them for a drive.”
Also walking the grounds was business manager David Gibson, who was pleased to see so many people interested in the machinery.
“We had about 30 people in the morning, and more usually come along in the afternoon,” he said. “To put that in perspective, in the Bathurst area per year, there are only really 60-80 tractors sold.”
The tractors on display suited all types of farming operations, from the casual hobby farmer to the broadacre farmer.
“There is a machine for everybody,” Mr Gibson said.
While not many Bathurst people would have a use for it, the new T8 SmartTrax TM drew a lot of attention, with a dedicated circuit set up to allow people to test drive it and check out its on board features.
The On-Trac Ag ‘Come and Drive It’ day will be staged in Orange tomorrow.
