THROUGHOUT an inconsistent year so far for Orange Hawks, there has been one constant.
Starring in the number one jumper, fullback Cody Robbins has crossed for eight tries in nine games with the two blues in 2015, and ahead of today’s Group 10 trip to Oberon to tackle the last-placed and winless Tigers the 21-year-old flyer is determined to help Hawks secure a crucial victory.
Even if it is in usual circumstances.
“I haven’t played in the snow before,” Robbins said, sounding a little hesitant to chalk up today as the first.
Oberon had 20 centimetres of snow fall on Thursday night.
“We’ve had good training sessions all week and the boys have gotten their head around the fact this is a must-win game,” Robbins continued.
“We know what we need to do.”
Seventh and two wins out of the top five, Hawks must win to maintain the pace with the fifth-placed Bathurst St Pat’s, who host Blayney tomorrow as the final five weeks of the season start to heat up.

Robbins believes the key to Hawks securing victory will be through the middle.
And with forwards like Mitch Davis and Deryne McKenzie in form, Hawks have the edge over the Tigers up front.
“I think it’ll be a close match, we’re both towards the bottom half of the ladder,” he said.
“I think our forwards will lead the way though and get the job done.”
Defence, especially, is where Robbins says Hawks can improve, and he’ll be doing his best to help direct the two blues’ defensive line from the back.
“I end up with a sore throat at the end of the games,” he laughed.
“I’m trying to be a leader for the boys on the field. Fullback is where I play my best footy. I feel like my form has been good this year.”
Hawks tackle Oberon today from 2.30pm.
