Members are encouraging everyone to wear white or light coloured clothing so the black light reacts with it to become luminous.
Youth mayor Laura Van Uum said the drug and alcohol free event will be held at Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre from 7pm-10.30pm. The doors will open at 6.45pm with no entry after 7.30pm.
The event will be open to all the city’s youth aged between 12 and 18.
Miss Van Uum said Black Light Night will be fully supervised and there will be a no pass out policy.
There will be a free photo-booth, a video DJ, mocktails and snacks, as well as drinks and snacks to purchase. Headspace will also be running activities.
“It’s going to look really spectacular,” Miss Van Uum said.
“We are really looking forward to it.”
Yesterday youth council members were working on a huge banner.
They have used special reactive paint so the banner will light up under black light.
Ms Van Uum said Black Light Night is for everyone.
“We wanted to do this because some schools have socials, some do not,” she said.
“It’s good to get everyone together.
“We invite everyone to come along, no matter what school they go to.”
Entry on the night is just $5 with that money going to help fund future projects.
The Bathurst Youth Council has 21 members that represent every local school.
Members are currently working on a collaborative project with headspace and are also planning a musical festival for the end of the year.
