NSW and Victoria’s best inland regional tourism operators and attractions were announced at the 2015 Travel In Inland Tourism Awards in Broken Hill on Saturday night, where Bathurst took out one of the most coveted awards.
Bathurst mayor Gary Rush was delighted with the award, saying it was a testament to the “tremendous” centre.
“Bathurst Visitor Information Centre does a great job, not only with visitors, but also with locals,” Cr Rush said.
“I’m always receiving comments about how engaging and friendly the staff are, and the centre is so well-placed at the entry into the city.”
Cr Rush said the centre had many elements which were unique, and no doubt contributed to its success on the weekend.
He congratulated tourism manager Felicity Baines, who attended the ceremony, and her staff on their success.
“The centre is another great facility that council has here,” he said.
The winners of the respective categories are now able to compete for finalist positions at the NSW Tourism Awards, which will be held in Sydney in November.
“The 12th annual Travel In Inland Tourism Awards showcased some of the best tourism attractions, products and operators in NSW and Victoria,” awards chair Jane Barnes said.
“This year, all entrants were of a high calibre. In some categories the marks between finalists were so close that a silver and bronze award was given.
“The winners demonstrated a high standard of professionalism and innovation in their field.”
