He will be a special guest at a dinner to be held at the Bathurst RSL Club on September 4.
The aim of the event is to recognise Bathurst’s great sporting identities of yesteryear, and it is anticipated about 25 people will be honoured on the night.
Mr Booth (pictured) hails from Perthville and represented his country on the international stage, playing in 29 Tests from 1961-66, and 93 first-class matches for NSW.
He captained Australia for two Tests during the 1965-66 Ashes series while regular captain Bob Simpson was absent due to illness and injury.
Mr Booth was inducted into the Cricket NSW Hall of Fame in 2014.
Daffodil Cottage Building Extension Project chair Doug Kinlyside wrote to well-known former local sports people and invited them to be part of what he said will be another important event on the city’s bicentennial calendar.
“The men and women who have been chosen have contributed significantly to their sport, in Bathurst, over many years,” he said.
“They were born in the local area, or have lived here from an early age, and they still reside in Bathurst.”
Mr Kinlyside said the night will also include presentations, raffles, auctions of sporting memorabilia.
“Kevin Shute will be having his beard shaved off on the night,” he said.
Tickets are $50 and go on sale this Friday.
Each of the sporting greats have been asked to supply pictures of themselves, both past and present, as well as newspaper clippings and details of their sporting careers.
