Fire and Rescue NSW crews received the call at 8.06am and found the shed at the rear of the property fully engulfed by flames.
Bathurst station officer Peter Willard said the shed contained paints, thinners, chemicals and furniture which led to an fierce blaze.
“It was fully engulfed in fire on our arrival ... we were concerned it would impact on the nursing home next door,” he said.
“It was only six or eight foot away.”
The intense blaze did set off the automatic fire alarm within the Bathurst Masonic Village, however no residents were impacted by the fire.
“Crews from Bathurst and Kelso worked together to extinguish the blaze,” station officer Willard said.
Station officer Willard added the workshop was once the original home on the property and he believed it may have been heritage listed.
“It was the original homestead that’s now been turned into a storage shed,” he said.
“It’s been severely damaged by fire.”
Station officer Willard said crews are still working to determine the cause of the fire, but they do not believe it is suspicious.
