John Reginald Donnelly, 58, of Hill Street, West Bathurst appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court facing a charge of driving under the influence of a drug.
The court heard that on September 27 last year, Donnelly was driving in Hope Street when he hit a stationary car, causing severe damage to the rear end and deploying the airbags in his car .
Police, fire brigade and ambulance personnel attended the scene and Donnelly was taken to Bathurst Base Hospital complaining of chest pains.
While there, staff took a sample of his blood which confirmed he was driving under the influence of illicit drugs, with methylamphetamine, amphetamine and Delta 9-THC found in his blood sample.
