Mark Paul Vella, 44, of Cases Lane, Mount Lambie, did not appear to answer the charge against him.
Police facts which were tendered to the court told how, on June 13, Vella was driving on Russell Street when police saw him turn onto William Street through a red arrow.
Police pulled Vella over to breath test him and said they smelt liquor on his breath.
He told police he was out driving looking for his wife.
A roadside breath test produced a positive result and Vella was taken to Bathurst police station where a breath analysis recorded a reading of 0.074, placing him in the low range.
Magistrate Michael Allen convicted Vella in his absence, fining him $350 and disqualifying him from driving for six months, effective from July 27, 2015.
