Thousands of jewels, 400 metres of fabric and dozens of man hours - Aysha Mehajer's wedding dress was as extravagant as the wedding itself.

The ceremony that stunned Sydney at the weekend was a cavalcade of Lamborghinis, helicopters, planes and marching bands. So it should be no surprise that the gown - the garment that is supposed to shepherd a bride through the happiest day of her life - was also an ostentatious affair.

While she declined to put an exact price on the dress, designer Natalie Georgys was content to share some of the details of her masterpiece.

The flowing, 15 metre train made Mrs Mehajer a sight to behold. The top two layers were adorned with no less than 2045 Swarovski pearls, with 1041 Swarovski diamond-shaped crystals used throughout the garment.

Below the top layer, another 375 metres of fabric (12 different European blends) were woven to create the complex design. It weighed 22 kilograms.

"It's definitely a luxury gown," Ms Georgys said. "It was completely custom made for her, molded to her body."

The elaborate work of art involved dozens of manic man hours, as the team at Nektaria scrambled to complete a year's worth of work in just over a week.

"There were six of us doing night shifts and day shifts," Ms Georgys said. "It normally takes us a year, but when someone comes in and says 'I want my dream dress and my wedding is in 10 days', we said, well, we'll do it for her."

Saturday's wedding ceremony became front page news after a loud and lengthy stream of sports cars and motorbikes disrupted the neighbourhood of Frances Street in Lidcombe. Four helicopters also delivered the groom, Auburn deputy mayor Salim Mehajer, to a park near his home.

Ms Georgys says Mrs Mehajer is her most well-known client to date. The publicity has been nothing but beneficial for the bridal business she established just 14 months ago, and which will soon launch in the US. "My website has crashed twice. It has been unreal," she said.

The designer also scored an invite to the wedding itself, from bombastic beginning to extravagant ending.

"I think I got a Ferrari and then I changed to a Bentley and then I got a Porsche," she recounted. "It was so amazing. It was like one of those parties you wish you got invited to."

Ms Georgys said there was "a lot of love" at the Le Montage in Lilyfield, where the elaborate reception was held. It was, she said, the best wedding she had ever experienced.

"Everyone was dancing, everyone was showing their love," she said. "The emotional experience in that reception was very raw."
