Tai Jin Park did not apply for bail when his case was raised in Fairfield Local Court on Thursday morning.

The 26-year-old was placed in Villawood Detention Centre following his arrest on Monday night after it was discovered he had overstayed his visa.

Park, who was rearrested and charged with murder on Wednesday, is accused of killing 26-year-old flatmate Suyoung An between August 18 and August 22 in Epping.

Fairfax Media understands Mr An, also a Korean national, showed signs of blunt force trauma and there was allegedly a fight between the pair before his death.

Mr An's bloodied body, which a witness reported was tied with rope and stuffed in a garbage bag, was later found in an Epping resident's green waste bin.

The Barombah Road resident noticed the bin was heavier than usual on Saturday about 5.30pm and discovered the body after he peeked inside.

While Mr An's body has been found, police are still looking for his car, a 2012 grey Honda civic, with the NSW registration CQI70M.

Police spent days combing through a Windermere Road property, around the corner from where Mr An's body was found.

Forensic officers were focused on a granny flat at the back of the property, believed to be where Mr An lived.

Park's case was adjourned to Central Local Court in October.
