Wendy Ann Barrot, 57, of Raglan Street, Kelso, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court.
The court heard that on February 3 this year, Barrot entered a massage shop in the Bathurst City Centre and stole a phone that had been left behind the counter.
On February 10, police reviewed closed circuit television footage of the incident and a security guard who was employed at the centre was able to identify Barrot.
Police went to her home and she admitted to stealing the phone.
When they asked her why she took it, she said: “I don’t know.”
Barrot then left the room and came back a short time later with the phone, and handed it to police.
Credit cards, a driver’s licence and sim card which were with the phone when it was stolen were all missing. Barrot told police she had “thrown them away”.
Mr Allen convicted Barrot on the larceny charge and placed her on a Section 9 Bond for 12 months.
