Second only to Christmas trade, Crazy Day is a day where thousands of shoppers crowd the CBD searching for bargains – and the chance to win some fantastic prizes along the way.
Crazy Day is this year being held in conjunction with Biz Week, which aims to give the community the opportunity to celebrate and recognise the success of local businesses in a collective campaign, while encouraging the community to support local businesses and drive local sales growth.
Western Advocate media consultant Martin Russell said Crazy Day was one of the biggest retailing days in Bathurst and was always popular with buyers looking for a bargain.
“There are always crowds of people in the CBD searching for bargains and hoping to win one of the fantastic prizes,” he said.
“Traditionally, Crazy Day marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping period.
“It’s effectively a super sale, designed to bring out the shoppers.”
Mr Russell said there would be plenty of incentives for shoppers to be in the CBD.
“There will be prizes for shoppers including a first major prize of $500 cash, second prize of $300 cash and third prize of $200 of in-store vouchers,” he said.
“Participating shops who dress up their staff and store will also have the chance to win a $200 voucher.”
Janelle Matus from the Bathurst City Centre said retailers in the centre were looking forward to Crazy Day.
“All stores in the centre are involved and the tenants are really excited and ready to get behind the day,” she said. “They love the excitement and atmosphere it creates and they all have heaps of specials ready for the day.”
Ms Matus said stores in the centre would also have clearance tables and the centre would have a market feel about it.
She said Crazy Day draws shoppers from all areas of the Central West.
