IN the second week of the Woodbridge Cup semi-finals, tomorrow we have the major semi-final when minor premiers, Binalong Brahmans, in their first year in the competition, host Peak Hill Roosters for first spot in the grand final.
Today, in the minor semi-final at Grenfell, Trundle Boomers play Grenfell Goannas, with the winner going into the preliminary final next week at Eugowra and the loser bowing out for 2015.
The Binalong Brahmans have shown how well drilled a side they are, going in as hot favourites over Peak Hill Roosters, who themselves have had another good season.
They’ve had one win each during the regular rounds but we all know finals football is a new ball game.
The Brahmans at home are undefeated and will start overwhelming favourites, but I am sure the Roosters will come ready to play.
Minor premiers Binalong have had while Peak Hill are coming off a hard struggle with Trundle, winning 26-24 last week at Condobolin. They seem to lift when playing in finals, so I think they will give the Brahmans a scare.
Binalong, however, should win in a hard fought clash to reach their first Woodbridge Cup grand final.
Today it’s do-or-die at Grenfell in the minor semi-final when Trundle Boomers play Grenfell Goannas on the Goanna’s home ground.
Playing at home is an advantage to Grenfell, which makes it even harder for the Boomers, who won both games in the regular rounds, a close 34-30 win at Grenfell and a big 44-16 win at home.
Grenfell at home is always hard to toss, however the Boomers are looking to go one better in 2015, so I am tipping them in an upset.
In youth league, Grenfell takes on Binalong today at Grenfell, while tomorrow minor premiers Peak Hill clash with Eugowra at Binalong.
In league tag today at Grenfell, Grenfell plays Binalong, and tomorrow minor premiers Eugowra go up against Condobolin.
The grand finals to be played at Young on September 20.
