THE one per-centers.
It’s a classic line coaches will rattle off to help keep their side focused on doing the little things well, and if Orange CYMS under 18 coach Gavin Westcott has his way, those one per-centers will launch his green and gold juniors into an unlikely grand final berth next weekend.
Having finished the regular season in fourth and then claiming sudden death semi-final wins over both Lithgow and Cowra, CYMS now travel to Lithgow on Sunday to face Mudgee in a preliminary final.
Westcott said the key to matching the Dragons was doing the little things well.
Simply, the one per-centers.
“We can match them in the forwards, I’ve got no doubt about that,” he said.
VIDEO: Michelle Cook and Nick McGrath preview Sunday's games:
“It’s just keeping things simple. Getting those one per-centers right. We played really well against Lithgow, and then talking to (Cowra coach) Craig Jeffries after last week, he said that’s the best his side has played this season.
“So we’re not going too bad. It’s all about control.”
Westcott said the Dragons’ hooker Jed Beasley is a threat for his side, as is backrower Ethan Butler.
Kick-off is at 11am on Sunday.
