The mercury is set to hit 27 degrees tomorrow, 28 on Sunday and 30 on public holiday Monday.
That will make it a much hotter long weekend than the long-term average maximum for October of 19.9 degrees.
It’s looking like a busy weekend at the aquatic centre, according to swim school and booking co-ordinator Megan Meek.
“It’ll be mostly families who come in for a swim,” she predicted.
“At the moment the leisure pool is the place to be, with a whirlpool, and a beach entry into a fountain.”
But the novelty this weekend will be the 50-metre outdoor pool, which only opens during the warmer months.
“People love the fresh air and getting a bit of sun,” she said.
“Some members prefer the 50-metre pool outside and only come when it’s open.”
Bathurst Aquatic Centre is open from 6am to 8pm seven days a week, but on public holiday Monday it will open from 8am to 6pm.
Ms Meek said swimming lessons operate year-round and has encouraged people to come along and sign up.
The prediction is for the weather to be dry in Bathurst for the next week.
The hottest October day on record for Bathurst was October 21, 1988, when the mercury reached 34.1 degrees.
The coldest day was recorded on October, 19, 1968, when it reached a top of just 6.1 degrees.
