Thousands of people lined the parade route - along William Street to Mount Panorama - to catch a glimpse of the transporters and drivers.

While the transporter parade drew criticism last year over its "boring" factor the inclusion of the V8 Supercar drivers seems to have boosted its appeal.

Back for the first time since 2012, Bathurst Regional Council mayor Gary Rush said he has worked "hard to re-introduce" the driver parade.

Race fan Mick McGrath travelled from Sydney to attend the Bathurst 1000 and along with 40 mates watched yesterday's parade.

"They should be in it every year," he said of the V8 drivers.

But, he did have a few suggested improvements for next year's parade, including making the drivers more visible for spectators.

"All the drivers should be in open-top cars," Mr McGrath said.

He also suggested the parade not just be about the current batch of V8 Supercar drivers.

"What about some of the racing legends in the parade?," he asked.

"What about older [racing] cars so you don't have them sitting in museums."

Nathan Goodwin travelled to Bathurst from Maitland with his family for the ninth year in a row.

He also thought the return of the drivers was good, but they needed to be more visible.

"It was hard to see them," he said.

"It was my first time seeing the parade, the trucks were visible, but unless you had a front row you couldn't see them [the drivers]."

People also took to the Western Advocate's Facebook page to leave their feedback on the parade.

"Love the atmosphere of race weekend shame the parades were not held on a Saturday arvo like they used to be with floats, drivers and bands followed by the street party now that was the ultimate weekend," Amanda 'Nicholls' Stapleton posted.

"Was great my first year in Bathurst, shame all the kids were at school maybe a Friday afternoon would be better?" Allison Everson wrote.

"Was all a bit disappointing really. A few trucks blowing their horns and drivers tucked away in closed top cars," Oven Fivedollarchip Stirfry said.

While Claudia Catlin posed that "the kids loved it" and Macgregor Ross wrote "good show Bathurst".
