The telemovie will bring the life and times of racing legend Peter Brock to the small screen.

In the telemovie, the Peter Brock story will unfold against a backdrop of Mount Panorama, where some of the production will be shot.

“I am delighted that the true story of a man who was a hero of a generation of Australians will be made,” Mr Toole said.

“Loved and admired by many, few knew the real Peter Brock and what made him tick.

“The inclusion of Mount Panorama in this project reflects the passion Peter Brock held for the Mountain.

“There are no greater icons in Australian motor racing than Peter Brock and Mount Panorama and this is the perfect combination for a film project.”

Actor Matthew Le Nevez will play the role of Peter Brock who, a Network Ten spokesperson said, was one of the most complex sporting heroes Australia has known.

The cast will also include Ella Scott Lynch as Bev Brock, Steve Bisley as Harry Firth and Natalie Bassingthwaighte as Julie Bamford.

Le Nevez, best known for his role as Dr Patrick Reid in the drama Offspring, is no stranger to portraying real-life individuals.

“It’s a privilege to be involved in the Brock project. Growing up as a kid, I watched Peter conquer the mountain many times and now, to be playing him, I am extremely excited. I hope to honour the man, his family, and his legacy. He is an Aussie icon like no other,” he said.

Mr Toole said production of the telemovie would bring an estimated $5.8 million boost to the NSW economy and create almost 580 jobs.

This forms part of a larger investment in a total of 23 productions across NSW that will generate more than $64 million in production expenditure and almost 4000 jobs.

Mr Toole said the government’s investment would leverage significant returns through economic activity and the creation of jobs.

Deputy Prime Minister and minister for the arts Troy Grant said the government investment would support two feature films, several factual series and documentaries, and six television series to be produced across NSW.
