The Cancer Council NSW fundraiser saw 10 of Bathurst’s well-know personalities compete against one another for a good cause.
More than 130 people came to Bathurst Panthers to watch the competition, all of which were in for a surprising treat from the novice dancers.
Charles Sturt University student organiser Kayla Cohen said the competitors displayed a range of different dance styles that they had been rehearsing with local dance schools in the lead up to the event.
“There were a couple of hip hop, there was ballroom, and Brett Seymour did the dance from Pulp Fiction,” she said. “There were some contemporary routines, too.”
Up for grabs on the night were five awards that recognised both dance ability and fundraising efforts.
Vanessa Pringle was the recipient of the judge’s choice award, Abby Smith and Sophie Jones took home the trophy for encouragement, Michelle Dunn and her back-up dancers won people’s choice, Michael Darby picked up the fundraising award, and Brett Seymour was given the wooden spoon.
Prior to the competition, the dancers were out and about collecting money for the Cancer Council.
In total, just over $18,000 was raised for vital cancer research.
