The annual Movember Games were held at the school, where everyone wore a mo, before they watched Year 6 students face off against the teachers.
Organiser of the event, and teacher, Jacob Parslow said the day was about raising awareness for diseases which affect many male parents in the school, and larger community.
Mr Parslow, who has grown a real mo this month, said he has been involved in Movember since he was at university, and wanted to help raise awareness in the school community. He started up the mo games last year, and it continued due to its success.
The games have been tweaked a little this year, but ultimately Year 6 students compete against their teachers in soccer, football and basketball for the winner’s trophy.
“The kids love it,” he said.
“Last year we had kids in kindergarten saying they couldn’t wait to be in Year 6 so they can compete against the teachers.”
Prizes were also handed out to students with the best mo.
Students had mos made from pipe cleaners and felt, through to rainbow mos and a mo with spaghetti caught in it.
“The kids have really got involved,” Mr Parslow said.
“It’s been great fun for everyone.”
In addition to raising awareness about mental health, prostate cancer and bowel cancer, the students also raised more than $300, which will be split between the Movember fundraiser and bowel cancer research.
