The airline said in a statement that Saturday's flights may also be cancelled because of the unsafe flying conditions.
Three 9.15am flights from Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane to the Indonesian island were turned around mid air this morning.
"The latest advice from our team of meteorologists, senior pilots and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre is that conditions for flying in the vicinity of Denpasar Airport have deteriorated and it is unsafe to operate our scheduled services today," the statement said.
"As a result, Virgin Australia has cancelled all flights between Bali and Australia today."
Ash from Mount Raung in east Java has continued to plague travellers to Bali in recent months.
The airline said an update on Saturday's flights would be provided at noon that day.
The airline is advising its customers in Bali not to travel to Denpasar Airport without a confirmed rebooked flight.
