Melissa Docker will team up with the Bathurst Theatre Company for the initiative and is now ready to start the search for talented people to get involved and bring her creative ideas to fruition.
According to Chris O’Rourke, who is the president of the Bathurst Theatre Company, there’s some exciting times ahead.
“Through her theatre company Mountain Murder Mysteries, Melissa has been presenting original, fun and audience interactive shows throughout the Blue Mountains, including Jenolan Caves,” he said.
“Melissa was aware of the great reputation that Bathurst has for live theatre, especially our local theatre company and its support of risky, original work by local writers.
“These include shows such as Sand Dwellers by Kay Nankervis, Blokes Don’t Talk by Vince Melton and recently the Central West Short Play Festival.
“After Melissa approached us with her ideas we were really intrigued with the direction she was taking regarding a playful, fun approach to making theatre.
“We see this as an opportunity to support local, creative talent in a way that will be good for the company and the community.”
Mr O’Rourke said the Bathurst Theatre Company will now back Ms Docker’s ideas and produce what it hopes will be some great theatre.
He said they plan to start holding auditions for open roles tonight and again on December 8 at the Uniting Church Hall in William Street from 6.30pm.
Ms Docker and Mr O’Rourke agree the productions will be challenging, but also a lot of fun for both for the actors and the audiences.
