BATHURST, it’s time to Put Christmas in Your Street.
Houses across the city will light up with the festive spirit in an initiative which raises much-needed funds for the 2BS/Bathurst Lions Club Christmas Miracle Appeal.
The appeal is an institution in the local community. Volunteers pack hundreds of hampers in the Pit Complex at Mount Panorama which are then distributed to those in need just before Christmas.
A spokesperson for the appeal said there was plenty of great prizes to be won with entries now open.
Entry forms are available from the Western Advocate or the studios of 2BS, but they close at noon this Friday, December 4.
Judging will then take place on Monday and Tuesday, December 7 and 8, with the finalists announced on Friday, December 11 at 4.30pm.
From there they will each be allocated a Wishing Well where residents can leave a donation for the Christmas Miracle Appeal.
Three registration prizes will also be drawn including a night’s accommodation at Rydges Mount Panorama, $100 worth of pub vouchers and two Metro Cinema movie vouchers.
There are also goodies on offer for the Judge’s Choice winner with $250 from Bathurst Regional Council, a $100 Rydges Chicane Bar and Grill voucher and $100 cash.
Five other finalists will receive the $100 Rydges Chicane voucher and $100 cash.
However, the biggest award is the People’s Choice which is a reflection on the funds raised through the Wishing Wells.
First prize is a weekend’s accommodation at Mudgee’s Winning Post Motor Inn; second is $250 from council; third is a night’s accommodation in Sydney; while fourth to sixth prizes have two Metro Cinema movie vouchers.
