Mirusia will present This Time Tomorrow accompanied by a chamber orchestra. Acclaimed as the Angel of Australia, Mirusia gained worldwide fame as the featured soprano soloist with Andre Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra.
The Sydney Writer’s Festival will be back again next year after its huge success in 2015.
One of the works Mr Champion is most excited about is the performance of Sugarland by the Australian Theatre for Young People.
Another performance that is sure to please is Let’s Misbehave: A Cole Porter Soiree with Mark Nadler in cabaret. This will be the first performance of this show in regional Australia. Songs include such timeless hits as Let’s Do It (Let’s Fall In Love), Night And Day and You’re The Top.
There will be two shows by Circa. Lovers of cartoonist Michael Leunig will enjoy The All-Leunig Song Almanac by The Song Company.
Country Song, a fictionalised story inspired by the life of Jimmy Little, is a witty, warm journey back into Australia’s recent past with music by some of Australia’s renowned Indigenous entertainers.
Another production sure to thrill is Chi Udaka by Taikoz and the Lingalayam Dance Company. It is a fascinating fusion of taiko drumming and Indian classical dance.
“Bathurst people will never have seen anything like it,” Mr Champion said.
The Marriage of Figaro, a new production from Opera Australia is sure to thrill, while Othello by Bell Shakespeare will captivate Shakespeare lovers.
