Darren Edward Clark, 50, of Abercrombie Drive in Bathurst, did not appear before magistrate Michael Allen to answer a charge of driving with an illicit drug in his blood, and the matter was subsequently dealt with in his absence.
The court heard how police stopped Clark in Bonnor Street, Kelso on August 23 last year for a random breath test and asked him for his driver’s licence.
He told police it had been taken off him previously.
Police checks revealed he had been convicted driving while disqualified. He NSW driver’s licence was disqualified for two years from July 16, 2012 and Clark had not renewed it since that date.
A roadside breath test produced a negative result, which was followed by an oral fluid test which returned a positive result to methamphetamine.
Clark was arrested for the purpose of a secondary test. It was positive for methamphetamine and cannabis.
Mr Allen convicted Clark, fining him $750 and disqualifying him from driving for six months.
