Yesterday it was announced that Denyer will join Tony D’Alberto, Mika Salo and Toni Vilander in the 2014-race winning team.
Denyer fills the spot in the team left by V8 Supercars driver Scott Pye who was forced to drop out of the line up due to his FIA seeding being upgraded from Silver to Gold.
Home-city driver Denyer is no stranger to the Maranello Motorsport garage, having produced an excellent run of results for them in last year’s Australian GT Championship.
In a breakout season in the championship Denyer finished an impressive second overall behind Christopher Mies, who will also be driving at the 12 Hour with the Jamec Pem Racing Audi.
Denyer won a solo race at Sydney Motorsport Park last August, and paired with D’Alberto to win the two-driver events at Townsville and Sandown.
This will mark the fourth start for Denyer in the Bathurst 12 Hour but it will be the first time racing in the GT3 Class A. Last year he raced alongside Tony Bates and Peter Conroy in a Class B Porsche 997.
Denyer recently tested the team’s Ferrari at Phillip Island ahead of his 12 Hour GT3 class debut.
Maranello team owner Mark Coffey said Denyer has proven he’s got an excellent partnership going with D’Alberto and is excited to have him on board for their 12 Hour tilt.
“Grant had an outstanding season last year and is more than ready and capable to step into the seat and maintain our extremely strong squad of four fantastic drivers,” the team owner said.
“His development last year was brilliant and, as we saw last year, he and Tony work very well together. They are both looking forward to working with Toni and Mika and working together through the build-up to the race so we’re in the best position on Sunday afternoon.
“This is going to be one of the most competitive races ever seen at Mount Panorama and we feel confident that the McDonald’s Maranello Motorsport Ferrari will be amongst the many contenders.”
The Maranello Motorsport Ferrari failed to take part in last year’s race following a crash in Friday practice.
