NRMA deputy president, and director for Western NSW, Fiona Simson said regional areas operate on a different price cycle to Sydney so western motorists do not face “the extreme prices changes”.
But, Bathurst is currently one of the most expensive regional centres in the Central West for unleaded fuel, however prices are expected to fall in the coming days.
“The average price for unleaded petrol in Bathurst today [Tuesday] is 118.6 cents per litre,” Ms Simson said.
“That’s compared with 112.4 cents in Lithgow, 127.3 in Orange, 113.7 in Forbes, 119.8 in Dubbo and 111.7 in Parkes.”
“We are expecting prices in our region to drop another one or two cents before the weekend, because wholesale prices fell last week and it will take until the next day or two for that price drop to reach regional areas.”
Ms Simson encouraged residents to support retailers offering the best price for fuel in Bathurst.
“Our advice is to do your research to find the cheapest petrol – you can go to mynrma.com.au to plan where you can fill up for less, and, when possible, support the independent service stations.”
As of yesterday, the best price for unleaded fuel was at the Metro at Perthville for 114.9 cents a litre.
Those who fill up with diesel could purchase it for 109.9 cents a litre at the same petrol station.
The best price for e10 fuel was on offer at the Metro on Rocket Street, where it was 113.6 cents a litre.
