After such a great community response to the gym’s target of 100,000 push-ups by the end of the charity event last year, d2f has upped the ante by adding a cycling component in addition to the push-ups.
“We will have all of our indoor cycling bikes down at Relay For Life and we’ll start off with an all-in challenge,” d2f owner Mark Simons said.
Local businesses are being asked to “purchase” a bike for $100 and keep the pedals spinning for the entire 19 hours of the Relay For Life.
It doesn’t matter whether riders are staff members of that business or not.
“We’re asking them to provide enough people to ride those bikes for the entire relay,” Mr Simons said.
Stone Pine Distillery, Goodyear Autocare and Macquarie Geotechnical are among the businesses that have already purchased bikes in anticipation for the event in March.
Mr Simons added that there may even be someone brave enough “to try the whole 19 hours on their own”.
The push-up challenge will run alongside the cycling challenge at Relay For Life, however, d2f will kickstart its challenge in the lead-up to the event to ensure it can hit 100,000 push-ups.
“We’re hoping to have the push-up challenge debut at the Eglinton Country Fair,” trainer Bev Glen said. “We’ll try to pop up at a few locations.”
The team at d2f would like to raise $4000 for the Cancer Council.
As many of the staff at the gym have been affected by cancer, raising money is particularly close to their hearts.
Businesses that want to join the cycling challenge are asked to contact d2f on 6332 4000 to register.
