This Sunday there will be a very special exhibition opening just for Mother's Day.
Bathurst Historical Society presents from 8th to 15th May Special Exhibition 'Once Upon A Time' - A lovely temporary exhibition is planned to coincide with Mother's Day this year - 'Once Upon A Time' will showcase the Society's collection of baby's and children's clothes, toys and memorabilia from 1880 to 1960's. Featuring exquisite christening gowns, Depression era clothes and toys, charming outfits and more, this exhibition will feature at the Museum in Russell Street. Bring your Nan, your Mum and your kids and have a look at what we wore way back when. Museum entry applies, special exhibition hours - Tuesday to Sunday 10am - 4pm 19th May
Maybe a movie for mum? All Saints Cathedral are hosting their Blind Date with Film in the Walshaw Hall, Church Street 4.30pm-7.30pm. Learn about history of some women in Bathurst. Lives of the Women of the Bathurst Female Factory at 8 Stanley Street from 2-4pm. Understand how the convict women who were sent to Bathurst's female factory lived, loved and contributed to Bathurst. What Mother's Day is complete without a Picnic? Join the Mrs Macquarie's Picnic Day. Held at Abercrombie House 311 Ophir Road from 10.30am. Bring a picnic lunch and relax in the gardens as we celebrate the 201st anniversary of the picnic held by Mrs Macquarie at the foot of Mount Pleasant in May 1815. Maybe a walk about town? Bathurst Town Square. Meet at Bathurst Courthouse, Russell Street 11am. The Bathurst Town Square holds many stories of the past and promises an evolving future more aligned to its past and significance as a heritage precinct. Christ Marshall and Henry Bialowas will relate some of these stories and reveal a more ancient past by looking at the geomorphology and natural forces that formed this landscape to explain why it was chosen for the township.
