With $1.6 billion in the budget yet to be assigned to specific projects, Member for Calare John Cobb said a second track could fall into the category.
“I separate Mount Panorama from the Federal Budget and there are a few things heading for a run during the election,” he said.
More than $52.6 million will be spent on the Forty Bends and Hartley Valley upgrades near Lithgow this financial year, in addition to $5.7 million on the Mitchell Highway and $78.8 million on the Newell Highway regional freight corridor.
But the Bells Line of Road will not receive funding because the State Government has not reserved the corridor.
“If they do that, it takes away the excuses,” Mr Cobb said.
Mr Cobb said he hoped the $2 billion National Water Infrastructure Loan Facility would enable a dam at Cranky Rock once the NSW Government was ready to proceed.
Despite high hopes the Murray Darling Medical School would be funded this financial year, Mr Cobb said it was a tough fight.
“The big unis are fighting like hell against us because they don’t want the government to take the places, but the problem is not many specialise as rural doctors,” he said.
“I have no doubt it will work, but it’s a battle to get through at the moment.”
