Business development manager Zoe Hida said the team was inspired to enter the awards after two of its projects were named as finalists in the 2014 Australian App and Mobile Design Awards.
Appiwork undertook “a few exciting projects” over the past year, which Ms Hida was confident could perform well at the recent awards.
“We were really confident with our entries, but there were some really great projects [from other companies],” she said.
“To get two golds was really exciting.”
The first of the gold awards was earned in the Community category for Appiwork’s YourLink project, a special network for Australian seniors that makes it easier to engage with the community.
Ms Hida said the app was popular among nursing homes to help residents stay involved in the community.
The second gold award was received for Mendizabal Container Solutions in the Business Operations category.
“This is a company that unpacks shipping containers for large companies, like Bunnings, that get their products sent over in containers from China,” Ms Hida explained.
The solution that Appiwork designed allowed the company to better manage its operations.
A silver award was given to the developer’s Well Done Cooking Timers app, which makes it easier to keep track of various things in the kitchen, after it was entered in the Home and Living category.
In another success for Appiwork, JetLag Free was shortlisted in another category.
“This app uses Chinese medicine to prevent jetlag when travelling and this app was up against the Opal Card,” Ms Hida said.
Formal presentations will be made to award recipients from June 1 in five cities across the world, the first being in Sydney at the Vivid Festival.
Due to its success, representatives from Appiwork will be able to attend London Tech Week in late June, something Ms Hida believes to be particularly exciting for Bathurst and the Central West as many people are surprised that a regional city is capable of this level of innovation.
