The third workshop, “Operating Your Own Website and the Latest Social Media Develop-ments”, will be presented by Peter Sutton of Kai Ming Consulting on June 23.

Lindsay Gale said providing free workshops for business owners demonstrates how progressive Bathurst is in comparison with other centres.
“Council is getting a very good response. I think they are a fantastic idea,” he said. “The more assistance that is given to local business the better.”
Mr Gale said some of the areas he will be covering in his presentation include knowing who your market is, knowing where you fit into the market and whether there is enough business to sustain that market.
“Basically it will cover all the things you need to look at before starting a new business,” he said.
“Often people don’t know where to start. We will also look at what kind of opportunities there are for business in Bathurst.
“I am often surprised by how many people run with their gut feeling, rather than developing a considered approach.”
Mr Gale said the BEC sees a number of businesses that are in distress, and often it is because they were based on a hunch.
He said in the workshop he will help people to gaining a realistic picture of what running a business in Bathurst entails.
The Business Enterprise Centre assists people in getting a small business started and offers advice to established businesses.
