Bathurst Regional Council and the Tourism Reference Group will be hosting the workshops, which are each limited to 25 people and will be held at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre.
The first of the workshops will be held this Monday, May 30 from 10am to 3pm.
It will cover maximising potential through social media channels.
Fiona Jenkins from the Country Kids Collection web business will talk participants through the rise of social media, its uses and how to run campaigns.
The second workshop will help tourism operators understand how and why public relations is an essential part of an integrated marketing plan.
Claire Mountaine from Brewer PR will provide guidance on how to deal with the media and the marketplace.
This workshop will be held on Monday, June 27 from 10am to 2pm.
The third and final workshop, to be held on Tuesday, July 12, will teach operators how to design quality visitor experiences, and strengthen industry relationships through collaboration.
Charlotte Prouse and Carl Solomon from the Destination Marketing Store will feature at this workshop, which will run from 10am to 2pm.
Tourism Reference Group member Tony McBurney said council is investing in local people in order to build tourism networks.
Mr McBurney is the owner of a short stay guesthouse, Highview Jetty, which overlooks Chifley Dam.
“I’m typical of a lot of tourism operators in Bathurst in that we are making it up as we go along,” he said.
He said the workshops will be relevant to a wide cross-section of the community, not just those with tourism businesses.
Mr McBurney said someone on the committee of a sporting club or an arts group, for example, will also find the workshops relevant if they bring visitors to Bathurst for events.
Council’s destination development manager Lucy White said the workshops are stage one of a program she wants to run each year.
“We are providing them at no cost and they are very practical, with simple ‘how to’ steps,” Ms White said.
