The availability and location of current seating is being considered, as well as whether there is a need for more seating.
Among the questions being asked of survey participants is whether they currently use public seating in the CBD, how often they use it, and whether they think there is enough.
The 10-question survey, which is being conducted by Bathurst Regional Council, also asks participants if they would like to have a waste bin co-located with public seating in the CBD.
Councillor Monica Morse, who has long campaigned for more public seating in the CBD, has encouraged people to take part in the short survey.
“Council has a list of seats, but they want to know if more is needed and where,” she said.
Keppel, Lambert and Rocket streets towards Bentinck Street are among the areas Cr Morse said would benefit from having additional seating.
She also suggested upper William Street would benefit from having more seating available to the public.
Cr Morse spoke to the Western Advocate last June about a $5000 funding allocation for the 2015/2016 financial year to conduct a feasibility study into a bench-seating proposal.
She said this funding is being used for the survey.

The survey will remain open until close of business on Friday, June 10.
