Bathurst Regional Council has handed out 100 applications to prospective buyers in the three weeks since registration for the Eglinton 100 subdivision opened.

Mayor Gary Rush said the level of interest in the new Eglinton land release is comparable to the Windradyne 1000 and Avonlea releases in Windradyne and Llanarth, respectively.
“Council has received a lot of inquiries and questions about the Eglinton 100 subdivision, and in particular it has been interesting that we have had a strong level of inquiry from individuals and families who are looking for land in the subdivision,” Cr Rush said.
“There continues to be strong interest in residential land sales across the city.
“Council’s previous land release in Windradyne 1000 was popular and only 16 lots remain in the 124-lot subdivision.”
The lots will be sold by the ballot system, with the ballot draw to take place next Friday, June 24 at 10am in the council chambers.
Registration closes today at 4pm.
Under the ballot system, the names of people who register will be randomly drawn and they will have the opportunity to select the block of their choice.
The successful applicants then have 21 days to finalise the purchase of the land.
The new development is a 59-lot subdivision which takes in Cox Lane, Lew Avenue, Templer Way and Fraser Drive in Eglinton.
Lot sizes range from 900 square metres to 971 square metres, priced between $155,000 and $165,000.
Controversy has surrounded council’s role as a developer, with claims that council’s purchase and sale of residential land is deterring private developers.
Council has dismissed these claims, saying there are still plenty of private land sales taking place.
The blocks of land will be sold off the plan.
Cr Rush said the registration of the subdivision is expected to occur in July/August.
