Aaron John Milligan, 32, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen on June 6 via audio-visual link.

Police facts tendered to the court told how on January 7 this year the victim was at a friend’s house in Bentinck Street when Milligan went up to the door and demanded the victim come outside.

She stayed behind a flyscreen door, which Milligan then pulled and bent in the middle.

He grabbed the victim’s shirt and pulled her outside before grabbing her handbag and running away.

The victim chased Milligan into the car park of the Bathurst City Centre, grabbing his leg and saying “you’re not getting away”.

Milligan then punched the victim in the head a number of times before kicking her in the head. A security officer came over and the victim told him  she had been hit in the head and was holding Milligan until police arrived.

Milligan then grabbed the victim by the throat.

The security guard warned him if he hit the victim he would intervene.

Milligan then placed his foot on the victim’s head, pushing it to the ground, and then struggled free from both parties and ran away.

The victim yelled she was holding onto him waiting for police because he was on parole.

Police attended and patrolled the area, but couldn’t find him. The victim told officers Milligan had threatened to burn her parents’ house down and kill her.

Milligan was arrested on an unrelated matter in Sydney on February 2, where police noted he was extremely violent in custody, so much so the Public Order and Riot Squad had to be called in to perform a cell extraction due to his behaviour.

On conviction, Mr Allen sentenced Milligan to 12 months’ gaol, dating from February 2, 2016. He is eligible for release on February 1, 2017.
