Crews from Bathurst and Kelso fire stations were called to the home in Cripps Place about 10pm.
Inspector Brett Jackson from Fire and Rescue NSW said the home was already heavily engulfed in flames when crews arrived at the scene.
“We initially sent out two trucks, but we got quite a few calls for response so we ended up sending out two more trucks,” he said.
“It was actually quite unsafe for them to enter with the flames, so they tackled it from the outside.”
A search of the house, which was conducted when it was safe for firefighters to enter, revealed that no one was in the property when the fire broke out.
Inspector Jackson believes the owners may have been away at the time.
It took crews nearly two hours to extinguish the blaze.
Investigations are underway into the cause of the fire.
“They haven’t notified us of the cause yet, so I imagine the police are still working on it,” Inspector Jackson said.
He praised members of the public for raising the alarm so quickly, preventing the fire from spreading further.
People who see smoke or flames are asked to always contact emergency services, even if they think it may have already been reported.
“The more calls [we get], the better for us,” Inspector Jackson said.
“Quite often people think someone else has called so they don’t.
“If you see something that you think is an emergency, please call triple-0.”
