Peter James Sait, 59, will be sentenced later this year on charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm in relation to the fatal crash.
He had initially pleaded not guilty to the charges in Bathurst Local Court and the matter was set down for trial in the current sittings of the District Court.
However, Sait pleaded guilty on Monday to the charges before Judge Ross Letherbarrow.
The charges relate to a collision between a motorbike and four-wheel drive at the Esses, Mount Panorama on Sunday, January 18 last year.
The rider of the bike, 43-year-old Shayn Rodham, died at the scene, while his 14-year-old pillion passenger suffered a number of injuries and was airlifted to Westmead Hospital.
Police alleged that Sait’s Toyota Prado 4WD was travelling in the opposite direction to the motorbike when the two collided at Forrest’s Elbow.
Accepting the guilty plea this week, Judge Letherbarrow stood the matter over for mention at the next sitting of the Bathurst District Court on August 15, 2016.
Judge Letherbarrow ordered a full pre-sentence report to be available on August 15 and, to facilitate this, ordered Sait to attend the office of Community Corrections at Penrith within seven days.
He ordered Sait’s bail undertaking, entered into on January 18, 2015, continue and excused Sait on the next occasion if legally represented.
He also directed any psychiatric or psychological evidence be served on the Crown no later than seven days prior to Monday, August 15.
