He received a call from the television show producers last week inviting him to audition for the celebrity judges in Sydney after he impressed at auditions held in Orange in April.
If the celebrity judges like what they see, the 37-year-old could end up with one of them as his mentor.
At this stage, Guy Sebastian and internationally renowned rapper Iggy Azalea have been confirmed for the judging panel, with two more judges still to be announced.
Mr Jenner has been involved in the entertainment industry for more than a decade, but never expected he would audition for a reality show.
He was encouraged to try out by his mates, although he wasn’t sure where it would lead.
“I was more happy just going and trialling,” he said. “I don’t think it has really hit me that I’m going to perform in front of the judges.”
When he auditioned in Orange, Mr Jenner was asked to sing two songs.
He selected You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth by Meatloaf and Grace Kelly by MIKA, very different songs which demonstrated his vocal range.
Mr Jenner believes it was his range that got him to the next stage of the audition process.
“It wasn’t just this one level of music; I could hit the high notes as well,” he said.
The next stage of the X Factor auditions will be held in Sydney on June 28 and 29.
Mr Jenner will be interviewed on the first day and perform for the judges the next, although he has yet to settle on a song.
“I think I am probably going to do the Meatloaf song or Grace Kelly,” he said. “It probably won’t be until I get there that I am going to pick which one.”
He has been asked to film a video journal of his trip from Bathurst to the audition for the show.
As for which judge he wants to mentor him, Mr Jenner said any of them could help him improve as a performer.
