It was only a month ago Bathurst motorists were fueling up for less than 110 cents per litre.
Prices have since gone up by nearly 20 cents, with the average price in Bathurst sitting at 127.4 cents per litre for the week ending on June 26.
This puts the city in 26th place on the NRMA’s Bowser Buster website, but it is only a matter of time before this starts to change.
A spokesperson for the NRMA said global oil prices have dropped “a bit” as a result of the recent Brexit referendum in the United Kingdom, causing movement at the bowser in many Australian cities.
“We should start to see prices slowly come down, but that is about a week away,” the NRMA spokesperson said.
“127 cents per litre is a bit high when you look at other prices around the state, so we want them to come down.”
Forbes currently has the best average price in the Central West at 117.6 cents per litre, while Dubbo is slightly more expensive at 119.6 cents per litre.
Over in Parkes, motorists are paying just 0.4 cents per litre more at the bowser than those in Bathurst.
In recent months Orange has been significantly more expensive than other locations in the Central West, but the city has finally caught up to the rest of the region.
Motorists are, on average, paying 129.9 cents per litre.
The NRMA encourages Bathurst motorists to support the retailers offering the best prices.
This is known to create competition between retailers, effectively driving down prices.
As of Tuesday, the best price to fuel up with unleaded petrol was at the Metro retailer in Perthville, where this variety was advertised as 117.9 cents per litre.
Residents who require diesel fuel can find the best price at the United petrol station on Durham Street.
This retailer has diesel priced at 115.7 cents per litre, approximately three cents lower than most other retailers in the city.
The Metro on Rocket Street has the cheapest e10 on offer, advertising this variety for 116.9 cents per litre.
