Contesting the Bathurst Light Car Club’s Supersprint in a Subaru Liberty, 17-year-old Mobbs finished as the leading junior.
Given it was his first tarmac event, Mobb’s performance was even more impressive.
In total 46 starters lined up at Mount Panorama in entries ranging from stock standard road cars to exotic road cars and highly modified competition vehicles.
Competitors were allocated eight runs, six of which were timed. The outright honours belonged to Dubbo’s Chris Weir, who clocked a best run of 46.57 seconds in his Holden Commodore.
He beat out Sydney’s Andrew Sturt (47.29).
Richard Anderson (Subaru WRX-STi) was the quickest of the Bathurst drivers in 16th outright, while Terry Nightingale was 17th (Holden Commodore SS).
Four locals picked up class honours as well – Nightingale, Matthew Windsor, Paul Newman and Nathan Stevenson.
“It was a very successful event, good number of starters from right around the state, which was great for this time of the year,” clerk of course David Robinson said.
