Bathurst pair Kevin Wilds and Phil Cummings competed and achieved 73 per cent. In a bridge competition this is a remarkable score.
Approximately 2000 pairs competed across Australia. They managed to finish in 13th place, fantastic effort!
REGIONAL TEAMS
LAST Sunday the club held our annual regional teams event, the Harley Antill teams day.
The Kajons team (Dianne Kajons, Graham Daniel, Lloyd Cleaver and Rosemary Hummelshoj) narrowly took top spot from the Burke team (Trish Burke, Karin le Roux, Robyn Pearce and Marianna Xerri). The Street team (Coleen Street, Denise Hourigan-Thomas, Noel Thomas and Bob Dillon) came third.
A total of 48 boards were played and by the end it was easy to lose focus so by the time this board occurred in basically slipped through the net.
Even though a slam (that is 12 out of the 13 tricks) was achievable if the board was played in diamonds, hearts or no trumps – or a grand slam (all 13 tricks) if the board was played in spades – nobody was on the ball.
Which bidding process would achieve the best outcome? The dealer was West and both were vulnerable.
