It will be the 150th anniversary of the first service of worship at the St John the Evangelist Anglican Church.
Parishioner Joy Press said the weekend was more of a reunion that would welcome back people who have a connection with the church and Peel itself.
The celebrations will start at 10am on Saturday, with a meet and greet in the old schoolhouse and memorabilia on display.
"Because it is election day on Saturday, we are having memorabilia and light refreshments all day," Ms Press said.
"Then on Sunday we have the service, which is the Thanksgiving service, and then a light lunch and cutting of the birthday cake."
The service starts at 11am, with lunch at 12.30pm.
The Peel Cemetery will be open over the weekend for people to explore and learn more about their family history. People can also explore the church over the weekend, which has retained its original features.
