Shane Michael Freebody, 46, of Mitre Street appeared before magistrate Michel Allen in Bathurst Local Court on June 20.
The court heard how on March 28 this year Freebody was caught driving with delta 9 tetrahydrocannabinoil (cannabis) in his blood.
It was about 1am when police pulled over Freebody's Ford Festiva in Dolbell Street Claymore for a random breath and drug test.
His breath test produced a negative result but the oral fluid test returned a positive test to cannabis.
He was arrested for a secondary oral fluid test, which returned a negative result, with the remainder of the sample sealed and sent for analysis.
In relation to taking drugs, Freebody told police he had "smoked a few cones earlier in the day."
The oral fluid test sent for analysis returned a positive result to cannabis and Freebody was issued with a Field Court Attendance Notice.
Mr Allen convicted Freebody, disqualifying from driving for six months.
