Darren John Hanrahan, 35, of Bathurst Road did not appear in Bathurst Local Court and magistrate Michael Allen dealt with the matter in his absence.
The court was told that police were patrolling Burraga Road at Gilmandyke on May 12 when they saw a Holden utility travelling south. A registration check found the vehicle’s registration had expired two days earlier.
When police stopped the car they said the driver was nervous and visibly shaking. They also saw that a front-seat passenger was not wearing a seat belt.
A roadside breath test produced a negative result and officers asked for Hanrahan’s licence. He told them: “I don’t have a licence, I’ve never had one.”
Further checks revealed Hanrahan was a disqualified driver until December 9, 2017 following a conviction in Oberon Local Court in 2014. When cautioned by police he admitted that he knew he was a disqualified driver.
Mr Allen fined Hanrahan $1000 and disqualified him from driving for a further two years.
