A senior member of a local walking group fell over while down near the river on Wednesday at around 7.30am.
In the process he lost his glove, but didn't realise it until later.
One of his companions enlisted the help of a female council officer who went out of her way to help look for it.
She searched through the leaves and found it for him.
The gentleman is very grateful for her efforts and thought council should know what a great employee they have.
Too many books? No, not possible
CAN one ever have too many books?
It is a question Parade often finds herself asking when she tries to justify the amount of paperbacks lining her shelves.
The answer is always a resolute “no”, even though Parade does find herself losing confidence in the answer when she is about to spend more than she should on new books.
It is like an addiction.
There are plenty of titles that Parade owns but has never read, yet when a new book sparks her interest she finds herself reaching for her purse.
Maybe next time she struggles to push a new book on to an overflowing shelf she will instead ask, “Can one ever have too many bookshelves?”
Cold ride but it’s a hot view
OUR Snapshot today shows a view that few have seen before but many will share over the next couple of weeks.
It’s the view looking down Russell Street from the top of the ferris wheel set up outside the Bathurst Regional Council chambers for this year’s winter festival.
Local media was given a sneak peek at the ferris wheel and ice rink in action yesterday and all liked what they saw.
One quick tip, though: If you’re planning to ride the ferris wheel then plan to rug up.
It’s even colder up there than at ground level.
