With four regulars missing for the match against the men’s Premier League Hockey defending champions, City knew they faced a tough assignment.
Things were made even harder after seven minutes when Tim Miller was struck on the arm by the ball and was forced to leave the field.
But City still had some highlights.
Captain Luke McIntosh was brilliant in defence as he made five saves off penalty corner plays, while goalkeeper Tom Scott made a string of sharp blocks.
Up until the final 11 minutes of the first half, City held Pat’s to just one goal.
“The guys made a phenomenal start today, it was so good, and it was not like Pat’s didn’t have the ball in the circle either,” City assistant coach Shane Jackman said.
“We managed to hold them out for the majority of the first half. It was great.”
