The weather was bitterly cold and the south south-west breeze made the result much worse with the extra 100 yards accentuating the errors. Katoomba visitor Ray Wilson returned to try out at the long range. He was the standout shooter, topping the first stage and then sealing the Cock of the Walk with a very tight 49.04 second stage.
Of the local shooters John Coghill’s demise deepened with two disastrous stages with the very occasional centre bull’s eye. Coghill’s insistence on using his suspect ammunition brought about his down fall.
Robert Wallace back for a second tryout at F class target shooting was tested by the 900 yards but held his own. His scores of 48.1 and 47.0 were admirable on a difficult day. Lavelle won the C R Kelly Cup by four points over Shepherd.
